Dorothy (Dot) Bailey
CEO/Founder
From the small town of Auburn New York sports was an outlet, her local community center Booker T. Washington was her second home and her love was basketball. Wearing a women’s size 12 was a financial hardship for my mom to try and provide me with sneakers; thank God for my late sister Darlene who never let me go without she always came through. Summers were not attending basketball camps which is what I desired, but working to ensure I had school clothes, meal money for away games and of course sneakers. My mom Carrie Mosley or affectionately known in Auburn as Mrs. Carrie always gave and cared for others and that was instilled in me. She would remind us daily “be grateful there’s someone out there who doesn’t have food, clothes or a bed.” I have always had a vision of starting a nonprofit that would help underserved youth so that they would not experience what I did. I truly believe if all had aligned I would have been a professional basketball player. But I also believe God had other plans for me to utilize my skills, hence the birth of EMPOWER YOUTH FUND! I’m obsessed with leveling the playing field for all who desire to unlock their potential and fuel their DREAMS.
